1. The Muslim believes that it is obligatory to obey them.
Allah the almighty says:
“O you who believe! Obey Allah and Obey the Messenger, and those of you (Muslims) who are in authority.” (4:59)
And the saying of the prophet (salallahu alayhi wa salam):
Allah the almighty says:
“O you who believe! Obey Allah and Obey the Messenger, and those of you (Muslims) who are in authority.” (4:59)
And the saying of the prophet (salallahu alayhi wa salam):
“Listen and obey, even if a Ethiopian slave with a head of raisin is your Ruler.”
And:
“he who obeys me, obeys Allah, and he who disobeys me, disobeys Allah. he who obeys my ‘amer, obeys me; and he who disobeys my ‘Amer, disobeys me.”
however, he does not think that he must obey them when that would involve disobedience to Allah, because obedience to Allah takes precedence over obedience to them, as Allah said:
” and that they will not disobey you in ma’ruf (all that is good).” (60:12)
The Prophet (SAW) said:
“Obedience is only in what is good”
And:
” No obedience is due to the created, in disobedience to the Creator” (ahmad and al-hakim said it is sahih)
And:
“the Muslim man is obliged to listen and obey in what he likes and what he does not like, as long as he is not ordered to disobedience. when he is ordered to disobedience, then he is neither to listen nor to obey.” (Agreed upon)
2. the Muslim believes that it is unlawful to rebel against them or publicize their sins, since that will cause opposition to obeying the muslim authority. this is due to the saying of Allah’s messenger (SAW):
“whoever disapproves of something done by his (Muslim) ruler then he must be patient, for whoever leaves the sultan even a span, will die of the period of ignorance.”
3. The Muslims are to prsy to Allah to guide their rulers to righteousness, success, prosperity, happiness, and to protect them from evil; since the nation’s progress relies on their righteousness, and its corruption rises from their corruption. the Muslim believes in giving sincere advice to the Muslim men in authority without insulting them nor detracting from their honor, due to the saying of the prophet (SAW):
“Religion is giving (sincere) advice” the companion asked: “to whom?”
the messenger of Allah replied: “ To Allah, His book, His messenger, the Imam of the Muslims and to the people.” (Muslim)
to participate with them in Jihad and to pray behind them, even if they are wicked and commit acts from the unlawful that are less than disbelief. when the messenger of Allah was asked about the obedience of the evil ruler, he said:
“listen and obey, since they are responsible for what they have done, and you are responsible for what you have done” (Muslim)
Also the saying of “Ubadah bin As-Samit: “we pledges to the messenger of Allah (SAW) to listen and obey, in what we like as well as what we dislike, in ease as well as in adversity, and that we would not dispute(about rule) with those deserving of it”
The Messenger of Allah further expalined:
“except if you see open disbelief and you have a clear proof thereof.”
And:
“he who obeys me, obeys Allah, and he who disobeys me, disobeys Allah. he who obeys my ‘amer, obeys me; and he who disobeys my ‘Amer, disobeys me.”
